I feel like doing a few of these Sorrow for Beginners pieces. If anyone would like to write something, poetry or prose or whatever, to accompany this image, please feel free. It helps me do the next one. (writing in comment section)
Do you know yet, the silent meals?
While the racing wind of a thousand bitter thoughts
turns the butter sour, parches every grain,
I’m afraid you will perform with your fork and knife, this lie of eating
More than once you will hear the sustenance clatter
down your hollow ache, and there, the unsaid words will bloat,
another kind of rising, that will not be stayed_
he: "what is this?"
she: "it's what you asked for."
he: "it's not the same as when mom made it."
she: "did you want to move back in with mom?"
he: "no. i was just sayin'…"
she: (walking away from the table) "asshole."
Il a mis le café
Dans la tasse
Il a mis le lait
Dans la tasse de café
Il a mis le sucre
Dans le café au lait
Avec la petite cuiller
Il a tourné
Il a bu le café au lait
Et il a reposé la tasse
Sans me parler

They always felt her presence at the table, and left a place set for her even though they knew she could never return.
